About Me

The Physiotherapist behind SevernVP

Severn Veterinary Physiotherapy is owned by Emily Cooke, a fully qualified and insured Veterinary Physiotherapist registered with the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists and Animal Health Practitioners Register. SevernVP provides a mobile service covering Shropshire and the surrounding areas.

Having been surrounded by a variety of animals from an early age, I took a keen interest in their health and welfare. I was introduced to a Equine Massage Therapist and a McTimoney Animal Practitioner through a family member which sparked an interest in rehabilitation and complementary therapies. This led me to pursue a career within the Veterinary industry.

During my BSc (Hons) Veterinary Physiotherapy degree at Harper Adams University, an integrated placement year was incorporated whereby I worked in the Equine Hospital and Queen Mother Hospital for Small Animals at the Royal Veterinary College in Hertfordshire. Throughout my time there, I developed as a Veterinary Physiotherapist and gained invaluable practical experience dealing with a variety of cases. This sparked an interest in canine neurology, specifically spinal disorders, and rehabilitation following surgery. I am very grateful to my employers for providing me with this opportunity.

Following the successful completion of my degree I worked within a first opinion veterinary practice providing Veterinary Physiotherapy services to include hydrotherapy. My experience in a large referral hospital as well as a smaller practice led onto a part-time lecturing position in Veterinary Physiotherapy and Canine Therapy degrees.

Since then I have developed Severn Veterinary Physiotherapy and expanded on the services provided.

In my spare time I enjoy exploring the countryside with my standard wire-haired dachshund called Snorker, who keeps me on my toes with his big personality.

Emily Cooke is registered with the Animal Health Professions’ Register under the Veterinary Physiotherapy sub-group and the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists.
